Forever Love : Georgia Fowler and Nathan Dalah marry with Clay By LB custom ceramics

Georgia Fowler and Nathan Dalah decided to forgo a ‘first dance’ for a ‘first song’ at their wedding—a “much more fitting choice”, Georgia tells Vogue, considering she’s something of a karaoke enthusiast. “Getting Nathan to a dance class would never happen.” Though she describes their rendition of ‘Shallow’ as “fairly comical”—“seeing as neither of us are particularly great singers”—the model thinks about their duet as a promise rather than a performance. “A reminder,” she elaborates, “to never take life too seriously.”

It was an easiness both the Auckland-born Georgia and Nathan, founder and CEO of Fishbowl, applied to the planning process itself, which they “absolutely loved”. “We gave ourselves less than six months to put the day together,” Georgia says, “and I wouldn’t have had it any other way. It made me move fast on decisions—something I’ve become quite a lot better at since becoming a mother, and not having the luxury of too much time for deliberation.”

With the help of wedding planner Laice Bollen of LB Styling, the couple put their ceremony together, choosing the manicured gardens of Bowral’s Hopewood House for the main event.
“As well as Laice, we had Sara from Laissez-Faire who dealt with Nathan’s crazy catering demands,” laughs Georgia, “[including] kilos of caviar, entire Parmesan wheels, 60 litres of fresh watermelon juice, and produce and proteins sourced only from nearby farms.”

“Sara and Laice proved to be the duo of our dreams, making everything happen and avoiding anything close to a groom or bridezilla moment. In fact we found ourselves the opposite of stressed on the day—present and able to just make the most of every single moment.” Georgia dressed her bridesmaids in Tiffany & Co. and Paris Georgia—a New Zealand brand dear to her own heart—while Nathan wore Patrick Johnson. The couple’s baby daughter, Dylan Aman, wore custom Jordan Dalah. Her designer brother-in-law crafted an oversized bow that matched those on flower girl dresses that Georgia and sister Kate had worn as flower girls at their aunt’s wedding 25 years prior.

As for the bride? Georgia wore a custom Vivienne Westwood gown, corseted on the bodice in the house’s signature style, with a draped, liquid skirt. “It was a true honour to wear a design from her final collection,” Georgia tells us. “I had wanted to wear Vivienne Westwood for my big day for as long as I can remember. I always loved the brand, Vivienne herself and all it stands for. Her wedding dresses have the perfect mix of timelessness, sexiness, and elegance.”

A change of location—a drive to the Dalah family’s farm for the reception and day-after festivities—also demanded an outfit change. Georgia tells us that she “fell in love with every single one” of Danielle Frankel’s dresses upon a visit to her studio in New York over fashion week. “I love the quirk, humour, and modernity of her gowns,” gushes Georgia. “She designs for the anti-bride who still appreciates true couture.” It was a princess gown that caught her eye—corseted like her Westwood creation, with a voluminous tulle skirt that hung a hair’s length from the ground. “We thought we should add a touch of youthful fun to it though,” Georgia continued, “[so] Danielle added in some custom accents—a neck scarf and a cut-out in the bodice. Tell me I would have chosen a tulle petticoat dress for my wedding and I wouldn’t have believed you, yet Danielle’s design was so perfectly me—and perfect for the farm location too.”

To wrap up her bridal hat trick, Georgia turned to Jordan Dalah once again for a dress to spin in on the after-party dance floor. “His designs are so fun, quirky, and beautiful—the perfect final look for the celebration. Did I have fun in it, or what!”

That’s not to say that Georgia didn’t shed a tear, of course. “Many were shed,” she recalls, “from the rehearsal right through to the ceremony.” And it’s a moment of quiet that sticks out to her the most from the day. “Walking down the aisle was surreal, Nathan and I locked eyes and it was like it was just him and I.”
